How to apply

This allowance is assessed when we accept a condition as service-related.

If you already have an accepted service-related condition — and would like to apply for this allowance — talk to your Case Manager.

When you get it

Once you get a Clothing Allowance, you'll need to tell us if you:

  • change your address
  • change your bank
  • change your relationship status — marriage, de facto, or civil union
  • plan to go overseas
  • plan to return to NZ to live
  • move to a rest home or hospital, or
  • have someone come to live with you or stay long-term.
