Helping veterans get the most from a GP consultation

Helping veterans get the most from a GP consultation

In September, a Veterans’ Affairs poster will go up in many GP offices around New
Zealand. The poster aims to remind veterans to tell their GP that they have served.

We would like the relationship between patients and GPs to begin well. Sometimes, ex-service people take some time to get used to the public health system, and it can be uncomfortable establishing a relationship with a civilian GP.

We want eligible veterans (particularly those who have just left service) to establish a good relationship with their GP for their wellbeing and to help them when they need to access support from us.

These are the posters that will go up in GP offices in September:

Two posters of a man and a woman in military uniforms smiling at the camera with their arms folded. The text reads: Have you served? Remember to let your doctor know.
